Amusingly, the keyword searches that bring the most traffic to my site (what little it is) have to do with the AMCAS application not working in modern browsers, including anything running on OS X. It looks like they’ve finally decided to update the site for the 2011 application cycle, and this time they’ve added an excuse.
Apparently their “default deny” browser policy is because:
“When a new browser becomes available, AMCAS has to do a large series of tests to ensure the integrity, security and user experience of our applications and this can take some time. We will update this site as new browser versions become available.”
While they still don’t support any Webkit browsers, including Safari and Chrome, they do finally support Firefox 3.6 on OS X, meaning Mac users won’t have to trick AMCAS or load Windows to apply for med school. In addition to Firefox 3.6, PC users can use IE 8 natively now as well. But don’t worry folks, Netscape 7 is generously allowed for both operating systems, so both of you AOL users can apply with ease. Oh, and just case you’re having trouble, they’ve also provided helpful links where you can download IE 5.

At least they got Firefox 3.6. I’ll miss all those incoming hits from “AMCAS fail” searches though.
IE8 has some bugs too although it is more stable than IE7 and IE6~~.
